New year festival 🎉️🎇

 



My Favourite Festival – Sinhala and Tamil Aluth Awurudda 

 

My favourite festival is Sinhala and Tamil New Year, which is called Sinhala and Tamil Aluth Awurudda in Sri Lanka. It is one of the most important and joyful festivals celebrated by Sri Lankans.

 

 
This festival is usually celebrated in April. During this time, families clean and decorate their houses and prepare many traditional foods such as Kiribath and sweetmeats. People wear new clothes and spend time with their family and friends.  There are many special customs during the New Year. People follow traditional times to cook milk rice, start work, and exchange greetings. Children enjoy playing traditional games like Kana Mutti and Kotta Pora.

 

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year brings happiness and unity to people. Families gather together, share food, and give gifts to each other.

           Our mothers birthday  is also on the same day, so that day is even more special ....😍

In conclusion, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year is my favourite festival because it is full of joy, traditions, and family celebrations. It is a very special time for everyone in Sri Lanka. 🎉

  Kandy Esela Perehara The Kandy Esela Perehara is unique culturel event in Sri Lanka.This is held every year in August. Many dancers and drumers participate in this. It is the dream of many dancers  to dance ina Esela Perahara. That's a dream of mine too........But I was able to make that dream come true. 🥹🫶 I participated in the Kandy Esela Perahara in last year.. I joined Peter Surasena sir's  wes dance group to play drums.   And that was the happiest day of my life......
